WASHINGTON, D.C. Members of Alabama’s congressional delegation urged President Barack Obama today to expedite the state’s request to have some counties declared federal disaster areas after Jan. 23’s tornadoes.
The declaration is necessary for storm victims to get federal disaster aid, such as help paying rent in a temporary home or making repairs to their homes. Gov. Robert Bentley has asked that kind of help be available to individual storm victims in Jefferson, Chilton and Perry counties.
