Former narcotics task force commander charged with stealing $125,000, plans to plead guilty

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Following a months-long FBI investigation, federal prosecutors have charged Jeffery Snyder, the former commander of the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force, with stealing at least $125,000 from cash seized by the task force under his command.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office charged 55-year-old Snyder on Thursday with theft from a program that received more than $10,000 in federal benefits within a one-year period. In a guilty plea agreement, Snyder said he embezzled the money from June 2010 to June 2012, when he left the task force.
