More than 5,000 people filled the stands of the Los Angeles Tennis Center Wednesday night to hear Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul speak at a rally.

The rally was hosted by Youth for Ron Paul at UCLA, a group has been working since January to bring Paul to UCLA, said Tyler Kotesky, a first-year political science and history student and president of UCLA’s chapter of the group.

Although California’s primaries are not until June, Paul has been trying to reach out to the youth demographic and California voters, both of whom have shown their support for the candidate, said Edward King, national youth director for the campaign.

“Liberty is a young idea. Maybe that’s why young people like the idea of freedom,” the Republican presidential candidate told the crowd. “Intellectually, the revolution is well on it’s way … and no one and no politician can stop it.”

During the rally, Paul outlined his “Plan to Restore America” campaign platform, which is made up of three main points: a free market, constitutionally limited government and “sound money”- namely drastic cuts in government spending and “interventionism.”
