Tea Party supporters brave hot sun and highway traffic to protest IRS targeting of right-wing groups

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – One sign showed a pitcher of Kool-Aid and a tea bag, and said, “Which one are you drinking?” Another said “Take Back Our Country.” “Political dissent is not racism,” said one more.

Those signs and many others were held aloft by about 40 protestors gathered at noon Tuesday on a grassy area at the intersection of Lakeshore Boulevard and Tom Martin Drive, near the Birmingham Internal Revenue Service office. The protestors, who were invited by the Rainy Day Patriots and the Alabama Legislative Watchdog Group, were gathered to rally against recently revealed scrutiny of right-wing political groups by the IRS.
